About Joe Brown

Joe Brown spent most of his life as a pioneer in the high-tech world of MEMS, Micro-ElectroMechanical Systems. He started his career as a researcher at IBM for 10 years, then moved to Silicon Valley where he was part of 3 start-up ventures: TranSensory Devices (TDI), where the novel processing methods Joe developed are still used in production to this day; NovaSensor where he managed strategic programs that resulted in a MEMS catheter used during heart surgeries, high temperature pressure sensors used on every space shuttle flight, and an ultra-high accuracy pressure sensor used on Boeing 747 engines; and SiTime, which transformed the entire industry of MEMS, and now trades on the Nasdaq. Joe became one of the most recognized world experts in MEMS technology, and traveled the globe giving presentations and consulting.

Throughout his life Joe also had a passion for music and when he met the love of his life, Daisy Jopling, an internationally-renowned classical/rock violinist who became his wife in 2010, his focus gradually shifted into promoting the exciting and creative world of a touring musician. Joe and Daisy also shared a passion for inspiring children and created the Daisy Jopling Foundation, which gives children an exceptional opportunity for collaborating with and performing alongside world-class musicians to create uplifting, unforgettable performances. Since its inception in 2012, their foundation has given free concerts and music lessons to over 6,810 children and has been able to personally mentor over 920 children in music and dance. This has largely been made possible through Joe’s tireless efforts, and always generous donations of both time and financial support. As President of the Foundation, no job was too small for him. He helped with organization, fundraising, marketing, bringing food for the participating students, driving artists from school to school, and his overall leadership of each project encouraged his team to donate more than 4,500 volunteer hours over nine years. Joe’s selfless support of the foundation’s mission was boundless, and his courage, inspiration, intellect, creativity, business acumen, good humor and love were the basis on which each project was built.
